what easy transfer

I am a Vista newb (actually, havent installed it yet), and I was wondering what Easy Transfer is. Is it a program that automatically backs up your files from XP to Vista?

Easy Transfer is a wizard that helps you select and move files and settings from one computer to another, similar to the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard in XP.

Reed, I have tried Easy Transfer several times using a USB hard drive and DVDs. When I get it running on the XP PC first, it locks up after about 3 hours.

That can happen with usb drives. At least I have had it happen to me. You can transfer in stages. Settings one time, selected files another.
